Here are pictures of Austin's first day of school. He was so excited to be a first grader and go to the "big" school that didn't teach about God. We have tried to explain the difference between private and public. Austin has been telling people that he goes to a school where
there is no God. But I think he's getting the idea now. When we first arrived at school, Austin told us to stay in the car as he knew where to go. We explained that on the first day of school that Mom and Dad would walk him to class. Like Austin always does, he asked to compromise, "how about you walk me up to class, but I go in by myself?" I still can't believe he said this, what is he 12? In the end, we all made it in his class and wished him a great first day!
We let him ride the bus to school as it picks him up in front of the house. You would think the bus was taking him to Disneyland because he was overjoyed by excitement! He thought that he was all grown up leaving me and Dylan at the sidewalk. Dylan now wants to take the bus too!
To make the week even better, Austin had a note sent home today saying what an amazing kid he is and that he is a hard worker and very caring! What more could we ask for to hear his first week of school! we have decided to allow Austin to ride the bus to school on Tuesday and Thursday and he can ride the bus home every day as along as he obeys. After waiting two days in car line, I went through 1/4 tank of gas and 2 minutes after we would arrive home, the bus will pull up right after us. We are the first stop so it's not much of a ride, plus it allows me to spend more time alone with Dylan. So I guess he is getting way to big too fast!
